Sick leave absences dropped dramatically with Fotonit®technology

Security, and the feeling of it, are core values at Tivoli Sariola – Sariola’s Funfair, one of Finland’s leading travelling carnivals. In order to maintain these values, the touch surfaces of the park have been coated with antimicrobial Fotonit®technology since 2020.

Fotonit® is a high technology hygiene solution, that can be used to take care of people and surface hygiene in a sustainable way. It is secure, and the safety of touch surfaces is not dependent on changing factors, such as the thoroughness or frequency of cleaning or requirements set by the spaces. The aim was to ensure that visitors feel safe while visiting the park, to secure their and personnel’s health and safety and to minimize the spreading of infections.

Ville Sariola, company CEO, says that personnel’s sick leave absences dropped dramatically after the hygiene measures were introduced.

“In numbers the change was enormous, the sick leave absences decreased remarkably compared to previous years. In staff lounges, the infections normally spread very quickly”, Sariola says.

Post-coating, the days of sick leave absences can be counted in five fingers, where as in the previous summers (high-season), the contagious diseases spread much easier and caused more of those days. Overall hygiene level improved. According to the company CEO, Nanoksi’s service clearly improved the situation as since then there has not been any long or extensive sick leave absences.

Extensive and versatile measures were taken to improve the health security. The pandemic set its own challenges, insecurity was present all the time. It was vital to do everything possible for a safe re-opening. Ride capacity was smaller, security measures extensive and in addition to the coating, the usage of certain rides was limited.

Nanoksi played an important role in the whole process

“Nanoksi’s solution was an important part of the whole process, and of the service, we got just the benefits, that we were expecting to get. Absolutely worth the invested money”, says a cheerful Sariola.
